Those of you planning to visit Japan sometime in January or February this winter, there`s one thing you need to be aware of: the temperature. It`s been a really really cold and Yokohama is no exception.

We call it 大寒ーDaikan. It laterally means a very cold day.

Some cities in Japan has ritual to deal with the chillness, in a hard way. Let me show you one in Hamamatsu-Japan.

Well, in case you do not wish to go hard way like they do, make sure you wear a heavy jacket when you come to Yokohama!

I find wedding & funeral ceremonies quit fascinating in a way because they truly reflect how your country is built, thus quite original. A movie "Ososhiki" was a blockbuster hit internationally several years ago. This particular footage was taken during .Obon-a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the deceased spirits of one's ancestors. Kamakura Reien is the biggest cemetery around, and I visit my father during Obon, to communicate with him twice a year.

As the city of Kamakura is surrounded by mountains, there are quite a few trails. Back in the days, they had been important means for transporting goods. Nowdays, we hike for pleasure. Here comes some of the hiking trails in Kamakura. This particular footage is one of them.

So, What is good about Kamakura? First, I suppose its history. You will find shire after shirne, temple after temple in this city. Second, the view. It`s one of the few places where you can surf watching the sun setting behind Mt. Fuji. I feel very "Japan" every time I experience this. Third, the sea food I would say. I crave those fish with some quality beer & Sake. I guess you can sum up this city in one word: "localism." Here comes one of my favorite parks of this city. This park has them all.

As Kamakura resides on the coastline, there are actually several secret beaches, where only locals have access to. This particular footage was taken when one of them fired - even though it doesn`t happen that frequently.

Yes, Kamakura was once a capital of Japan about a century ago- the era of Samurai. Thus, I don`t blame you for associating Kamakura with its history, temples, and bunch of ruins. But hold on a second・・・If you think they are all Kamakura has to offer, you have seen only a portion of the city: YOU MUST VISIT THE BEACHES, AND FOR THAT, IT HELPS WHEN YOU KNOW WHICH BEACE TO GO. As you are aware of, Japan is an island, and Kamakura resides on the coast. Here comes a footage of a secret beach at Yuigahama the closest beach from Kamakura station: 15minutes on foot. This particular beach is at the end of the coast, and if you are someone who enjoys local vibe, fresh Sashimi & crispy Tempura, and privacy, you will like this area-guaranteed.
